It was broadcast only in Germany at the time. By 2010, after nearly 40 years, it seemed desirable to recycle the performances and interviews with the composers and to create a revealing look back to those years for English-speaking New Music fans. The film offers valuable insights into the nature and issues of advanced composition at the beginning of the 1970s.

Ukrainian composer Mykola Lysenko goes for a walk in Kyiv. Along the way, his memory takes him back in time: first to his childhood in the village of Hrynky; to May 1861, when he attended Taras Shevchenko's funeral; to a trip to Leipzig; to the time when he was working on the opera "Taras Bulba"; to the images of Olha O'Connor and Olha Lypska, who gave him love, happiness, and inspiration.

That year, political tensions between the two enemy states had eased, and the aim was to deepen their cultural relationship. This event became a musical highlight, significant for the bond it forged between these two cultures.
